April showers bring May flowers, and this April also brings us Easter, Passover and Ramadan celebrated simultaneously for the 1st time in 33 years! Even with the pandemic lingering, we were able to host a Passover Seder with family and friends for the 1st time in years. We hope you could celebrate these wonderful holidays safely and meaningfully with your loved ones. With the 3 great western religions concurrently celebrating major holidays, we hope it inspires renewal, health, and peace for all during this time and beyond.
As for the Spring real estate market in San Francisco, it usually begins to rain inventory, but much like our weather patterns, inventory levels have been tepid as available properties for sale were down 17.5% in March compared to the same time last year. With the Fed beginning to raise interest rates, some buyers have been spooked, others reformulating budgets–but many do not seem to be rattled as overbidding continues to be the norm. Going forward, inflation and interest rates are among the most significant indicators to watch for the housing market and the economy in general.
If you are thinking about selling, now is an excellent time to take advantage of the low inventory. If you are thinking about buying, real estate is an excellent investment against inflation and a good time to get in now while rates are still historically low. While we sadly cannot predict the future, San Francisco real estate has historically been an excellent long-term investment, so if you are ready to buy, or sell and cash out, there are great opportunities!
